Around the home:
Switch off lights when they’re not needed
Update old lightbulbs (incandescent and fluorescent) to new LED bulbs
An decent quality LED bulb uses approx 1/10th the energy of an incandescent bulb, but will also last typically at least 10 times as long too.
Turn off taps when not required, eg whilst brushing your teeth. All the water we use has an energy cost, as well as a financial cost to those on a meter.
Wash clothes a little less, and at lower temperatures.
Delete unnecessary emails, and if they’re on the cloud, unwanted files, photos, videos and music – data storage is one of the fastest growing demands for energy, and what we store is waste if we don’t need or use it
